Loverboy is a Canadian band that was formed in 1979. And just like most really great acts was at the mercy of record companies. This outstanding band believe it or not was rejected by many American record labels before being signed with Columbia / CBS Records Canada. Loverboy accumulated numerous hit songs in Canada and the United States, earning four multi-platnum albums and selling millions of records. In 1981 " Working For The Weekend ", " Kid Is Hot Tonight ", and " Turn Me Loose ", were the songs people heard on radio all the time.Tickets went on sale to see Journey and Loverboy as the opening act. I had both albums that were out at that time and Loverboy was promoting their second album " Get Lucky ". The forum was packed because of the band Journey so Loverboy had a full house to warm up. Warm up the crowed they did.The band that night gave Journey a run for their money. The band was in superb form as the crowd ate it up. The encore I will never forget was " Turn Me Loose". It kicked my ass I can still remember it. When I found out that they were playing at Sycuan I had to see them. 1981 was the first and last time I saw that band. I prepared myself for what the band might look like. We all age and change. The band came out on stage and it took me a moment to see how much we all aged. They came out with a set that was like listening to a greatest hit album. The songs of set included "Notorios ", "Lucky One ", "Take Me To The Top", "Really Don't Know Me", "Kid Is Hot Tonight", "Turn Me Loose", and "Working For The Weekend". It's as though time stood still for this band. Every song still sounded the same. I know this band would still give Journey a run for their money. More info about Loverboy is just a click away.
